2021 NISSAN ALTIMA MPG & GAS MILEAGE

2021 NISSAN ALTIMA

One of the most important facets of driving a sedan is being able to make the claim that your vehicle is incredibly fuel efficient. If you want to be one of the people touting this benefit to others, you should definitely be considering a 2021 Nissan Altima as your next ride around the Avon, Plainfield, and Danville, IN, areas.

An EPA-estimated 28 city/39 highway MPG with the baseline motor and EPA-estimated 25 city/34 highway MPG with the available 2.0L engine will have you stopping at the gas stations less frequently than you're used to.¹ With this in mind, the team at Andy Mohr Avon Nissan has created a helpful outline with all the answers as to why the Altima gets great gas mileage.

Find out what you can expect from your next sedan!

NISSAN ALTIMA GAS MILEAGE

GAS MILEAGE

In a sea of sedans, the 2021 Nissan Altima is born to standout with a well-crafted exterior and dynamic powertrain to match. Coming standard is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder motor that earns a peppy blend of 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque.

When equipped with this baseline engine, you can count on an EPA-estimated 28 city/39 highway MPG.¹ With this type of efficiency, you can sleep in on Monday morning knowing you won’t need to make an early gas station run.

UPGRADE YOUR PERFORMANCE

UPGRADE YOUR PERFORMANCE

Even drivers who are more interested in performance will be treated to improved fuel efficiency. With the available 2.0L VC-Turbo 4-cylinder engine, you’ll get up to 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque for smoother gear changes and more heightened acceleration.

There’s no need to choose between fuel economy and power though, since this powertrain is the best of both worlds. It provides an EPA-estimated 25 city/34 highway MPG, so you’ll travel far with that exceptional performance.¹

2021 ALTIMA ALL-WHEEL DRIVE

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE

If you find yourself driving through the snow often, the Nissan Altima is prepared to give you the traction you need with the available Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive driveline. This system sends torque to all four of your wheels to provide you with enhanced handling when you’re traveling over low traction surfaces.

In order to save fuel, though, this system is designed to switch to front-wheel drive when you’re on clear roads. As soon as this sedan detects that your wheels are slipping, your driveline will then switch to all-wheel drive to give you extra traction on demand. The result is a seamless ride that you don’t have to leave in the garage when the snow really starts to get heavy.

AWD is available on multiple Altima trim levels but can only be paired with the standard 4-cylinder motor. Even with the extra traction and control this system provides, you’ll still be able to enjoy an EPA-estimated 26 city/36 highway MPG

FINE TUNED TRANSMISSION

One of the best ways to improve fuel economy is to equip your vehicle with a well-designed transmission. Luckily, the Nissan Altima is designed with a standard Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission).

This carefully tuned transmission provides improved fuel ratings by doing away with the gears used in more traditional transmissions. This system provides just the right amount of power for any situation, so you don’t use more fuel than you need to when moving up that hill.

HOW FAR CAN YOU ROAM IN THE ALTIMA?

HOW FAR CAN YOU ROAM IN THE ALTIMA

In addition to a great fuel rating of an EPA-estimated 28 city/39 highway MPG, the 2021 Nissan Altima is outfitted with a large fuel tank to keep you away from the gas station for even longer.¹

Front-wheel drive models boast a 16.2-gallon tank that will help you journey over 630 highway miles on a full tank of gas. If you’ve decided to opt for AWD instead, you’ll still get a large 16-gallon tank that enables you to travel a maximum of 576 highway miles before needing to refuel.

This type of efficiency is ideal for a range of explorations, including the following:

  • Venture to Chicago for the weekend to check out the museums
  • Plan a getaway to Lake Michigan to relax by the water
  • Head down to Nashville for live music, good food, and cold drinks
  • Escape with your friends to the North Market Downtown in Columbus
  • Visit the Hoosier National Forest and check out the Marengo Cave

Wherever the Altima takes you, you can count on a fun exploration with minimal gas station interruptions.

FUEL SAVING TIPS

FUEL SAVING TIPS

When you’re being treated to such an impressive MPG rating, you want to ensure you’re making the most out of your fuel tank at all times. The following are some key tips on how to conserve fuel and ensure you’re getting the best economy from your 2021 Nissan Altima:

Be Consistent

With so much engine output at your disposal, you may feel tempted to hit higher speeds once you get to the freeway. However, this can greatly deplete your fuel tank. Instead, try maintaining a slower, more consistent speed on the highway to achieve the best fuel ratings.

Use Cruise Control

This tip goes hand in hand with the previous tip and makes sustaining a consistent speed simpler. Your Altima can be equipped with ProPILOT Assist which automates driving by maintaining a preset following speed and distance between your car and the one ahead.

With this advanced system keeping your sedan at a low and slow speed not only will you be safer, but you’ll also notice an impact on your fuel tank.

Close Your Windows

Any amount of extra drag can cause your vehicle to work harder and therefore use more fuel. The next time you switch from backroads to the freeway, consider putting your windows up and using your Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control instead.

Stay Up to Date on Service

Getting the proper maintenance for your vehicles, such as tire rotations and engine oil changes, keeps your engine running smoothly and performing at its peak. When your engine doesn’t have to compensate for a worn out or old component, you’ll find your sedan’s able to achieve its best MPG.
