Nissan King Cab vs Crew Cab: Overview

Nissan Frontier Towing CapacityThe main difference between the Nissan King Cab and Crew Cab is in the size. Both are 2-row cabins. However, the King Cab tends to be a much more compact cabin style, while the Crew Cab gives rear-seat passengers a little bit more wiggle room.

While the exact measurements will vary depending on whether you’re driving the Nissan Frontier or the Nissan TITAN, the Crew Cab generally offers those in the back an additional 10 inches of legroom. This also gives you more cargo space inside the cabin should you need it.

Keep in mind, too, that the size of the cabin can affect your truck’s curb weight in some situations. So, the Crew Cab configuration has a higher curb weight and a lower payload and towing capacity than the King Cab for certain models.

King Cab vs Crew Cab Dimensions and Capacities: Nissan Frontier

The Nissan Frontier is a popular midsize truck that’s great for those who like to work hard during the week and take it easy on the weekend with a tailgate or an off-road excursion. Its Crew Cab and King Cab feature the following dimensions:

  • Crew Cab legroom (rear): 33.6 inches
  • King Cab legroom (rear): 25.4 inches

As you can see, the amount of legroom in the Crew Cab and King Cab vary by more than eight inches for rear-seat passengers. The Crew Cab also seats five passengers while the King Cab seats four passengers. Otherwise, both cabin styles give front-seat drivers 42.4 inches of legroom.

There’s also a difference in ground clearance between the two cabin styles:

  • Crew Cab ground clearance (standard): 9.8 inches
  • King Cab ground clearance (standard): 8.7 inches

This 1-inch difference in ground clearance can influence your off-roading capabilities.

King Cab vs Crew Cab Dimensions and Capacities: Nissan TITAN

Nissan TITAN Towing CapacityWhen we look at the Nissan TITAN, we see that the King Cab and Crew Cab have different legroom dimensions than those in the Frontier. However, this popular heavy-duty truck still makes the King Cab more compact:

  • Crew Cab legroom (rear): 38.5 inches
  • King Cab legroom (rear): 24.8 inches

For the Nissan TITAN, the King Cab actually offers rear-seat passengers almost 14 additional inches of legroom. Both configurations give front-seat drivers 41.8 inches of legroom.

However, compactness of the King Cab makes way for more cargo room and allows it to pull a longer bed. The King Cab gets a 78.7-inch bed while the Crew Cab of the TITAN gets a 67-inch bed. This also affects your payload capacities:

  • Crew Cab max payload: 1,620 pounds
  • King Cab max payload: 1,640 pounds

Now consider their towing capacities:

  • Crew Cab max towing: 9,380 pounds
  • King Cab max towing: 9,450 pounds

Whether you want your Nissan TITAN to have more cabin space or a higher payload and towing capacity depends on what you need from your truck. Ask your sales team which configuration is going to give you the features you need most.
