How Often Do I Need to Change My Oil?

Every six months—or once you have driven another 7,500 miles—your Nissan Murano will need to be serviced for an oil change.

The engine oil and oil filter will need to be replaced so that your engine continues to operate safely. This will help you get the most efficient performance out of your engine, as well.

At this time, you should also have the tires rotated, which helps them last longer and lets them continue to give you an efficient and smooth performance.

Every 15,000 Miles

At least once a year—or every 15,000 miles—you will want to have a few systems inspected.

This includes having the braking system and its following parts checked:

• Brake lines and cables
• Brake pads
• Brake rotors

You will also want to have the continuously variable transmission (CVT) fluid checked, as well as the propeller shaft and drive shaft boots if your Murano is equipped with an all-wheel drive system.

Have the transfer fluid and differential gear oil inspected and possibly changed, depending on how much towing you do. The in-cabin microfilter will also need to be replaced.

Other Replacements That Will Be Needed

As the miles add up, other parts and fluids will eventually become worn and need to be replaced, as well, such as…

• NISSAN Intelligent Key® battery: Replace every 45,000 miles.
• Spark plugs: Replace every 105,000 miles.
• Engine coolant: First replace at 105,000 miles, then change every 75,000 miles.

Some parts and fluids will need to be checked and replaced even sooner if you drive in more severe conditions. This includes if you make frequent trips within five miles from your home, drive through more mud and dusty roads, commute in stop-and-go traffic often, or tow a lot.

If that is the case, it is advised to have the oil changed every 5,000 miles and the brake fluid replaced every 10,000 miles. You will also want to have the brake pads and rotors, as well as the exhaust system, checked during each oil change.
